Researchers at Duke University showed participants pictures of CEO’s and asked them to rank how competent (how good they were at getting the job done) each CEO was.

Incredibly, the researchers found that the CEOs ranked as just looking like they were good at their job, were statistically making more money than the other CEOs.

The results had nothing to do with their performance.
